Generation Razor wins Chicago's Good Design award
Bolin Webb's Generation Razor has been named as winner in the personal category of the Chicago Athenaeum GOOD DESIGN ®Award for 2023.
The product entry reads "The Generation Razor set a target for stripping back disposable razor handle design to the essentials, removing distraction to concentrate on quality and user experience. It uses careful and considerate design for manufacture, for medium level production quantities. This ensures that the Generation Razor remains affordable and accessible whilst breaking the cycle of novel technology and planned redundancy, offering instead a long term, timeless and cherished men’s grooming accessory."
The razor was designed by PDR in Cardiff following the Bolin Webb brief for an anodised aluminium razor and stand, fitted with a Gillette Fusion blade.
The 2023 award is the second from GOOD DESIGN ®. Bolin Webb first won this accolade for its R1 razor and stand a decade ago - in 2012.
The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd. present the Museum's annual GOOD DESIGN ® Awards Program for the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs produced around the world.
Bolin Webb's Generation razor was also named Best Shaving Product 2023 by British GQ, and was a winner of Gemany's iF Product Design Award 2023.
