Which Gillette Blade to Use?
Bolin Webb razors are compatible exclusively with Gillette blades. All R1 razor handles use a Gillette Mach 3 blade and all X1 razor handles use a Gillette Fusion5 Blade. For over a century Gillette has led the way in blade development, investing in creating razors that can provide a performance shave. While both the Fusion5 and Mach3 blades will provide a high-quality shave, there are a few differences that may influence your choice in razor.
Gillette Mach3 Blade – The R1 Range
The Mach3 blade is one of Gillette’s most widely used cartridge razors. The razor has three stainless steel blades, that provide a close smooth shave. Infront of the blades are Gillette’s microfins. The microfins level out the skin before the blades pass over to create a smooth shave and avoid cuts to creases in your skin. Behind the blades is a lubrication strip designed to keep the moisture in, helping to reduce friction while you shave. The relatively low number of blades helps to limit irritation; hence we always recommend the Mach3 for men with sensitive skin.
Our R1 Razors are designed to use only the Gillette Mach3 blade. View the R1 range.
Gillette Fusion5 Blade – The X1 Range
The blade also incorporates both Gillette’s microfins and lubrication strips to reduce irritation while shaving. The Fusion5 provides a high quality, long lasting performance shave, perfect for a clean shaven modern gentleman.
Our X1 Razors are designed to use only the Gillette Fusion5 Blades. View the X1 Range.
